    I like the fact that he called it daring and original and gritty.  I'm spreading the word about it Scott and glad to see he is too.  Kudos to Tom on the great indie cover!

    @heart_beep - Yeah. The guy kind of comes off as a prick, really. Kudos to Tom indeed -even though the guy was knocking the cover. But you saw his right?

    I love these critics...

  • heart_beep

    @scrogers - I saw it.  It was morbid and looked like a kindergartner drew it with fingerpaints.  Don't put any stock into half ass critics.  It's the ones on your website that count, and, of course, all of your fans!

    @thomas_michael - Hahahaha!  Now I like this comment!

  • heart_beep

    @thomas_michael - Haha!  Those West Coast snobs!  They just don't get the grittiness and toughness of Detroit, do they!  You should include that scene in one of your novels:  angry writer goes beserk and haunts puny little critic while he sleeps!

    I guess any kind of rec is a good rec, but I really hope this guy didn't go to any trouble. He really isn't interested in your book, it supposed to be in the style of someone he doesn't read, the cover screams Indie, and well, he doesn't really like your character. I'm just wondering, after reading his title, if it's a lameass autobiography . . . .

  • JoshRollins

    But its a good weird!

  • thomas_michael

    @jacksoncroons - lol. i just finished checking out a preview of his book on amazon. typo in the first sentence. glaring typo. and from there it got worse. he's not very good. i don't feel bad anymore. he said he's never read bukowski. i believe him. he talks about us being indie and not in a good way. but his layout and back page scream unprofessional on quite a few levels. including but not limited to the fact that readers are giving him praise, but these readers are nameless. might as well be my grandma recommending his book. but there again, my grandma had taste.

  • thomas_michael

    @JoshRollins - a very good weird. and we like weird. we like original. we like indie. and we alway will. he however, very much, likes himself. and that's about it.

    Hey Scott - there wasn't supposed to be any kind of knock on your book.  I wrote that article as a complete recommendation for others to read it. Sorry to see everyone hates me for loving it. If you want, I can stop recommending it.  My apologies for being a fan.

    BTW, if you check out Goodreads, Shelfari and Amazon you'll see that this review was accompanied with 4/5 stars in each instance.

    @thomas_michael - haha
    awesome.
    Well I like the book, so that's all that matters.

    Good grief - what a strange, defensive and paranoid bunch you all are! I've read (and enjoyed) The Trouble With Being God and - on the basis of Mr Aicher's *repeated* recommendations I was thinking about tucking into Celluloid Cowboy - frankly if this is the sort of creative wellspring it draws from then I think I'm safer giving it a miss.

    I guess I'll just sit around being self-important and picking holes in other people's indie-publishing efforts instead...

    I think his book cover is aweful, but I try not to judge a book by ... well you know.

    His review came across as a completely honest personal reaction.  As a newly published author I would be grateful that anyone took the time to read and review my book.  Actually his review piqued my interest.  I not only want to know about the book, but after reading his review I'd like to see how his take on your book is either similar or different from mine.

  • scrogers

    @JoshRollins - where's the review...dude.

  • scrogers

    @ItsWhatEyeKnow - Stop by Amazon and pick one up. I guarentee you'll laugh out loud while reading it. Think - Dark Comedy...

  • JoshRollins

    @scrogers - working on it, I have to spin my flair on it a wee bit.
